Happy 100th Birthday Aussie Scouts!
by SaveTimeIn 1908, scouting officially started in Australia and 100 years later, scouting is still going strong!
Baden-Powell tested his scouting ideas at a camp on Brownsea Island, England, in August 1907 so the 1st August has been accepted as the anniversary date for scouting which means that today is the 100th birthday of Aussie scouts!
This is the year of the scout in Australia and there are many celebrations and acknowledgements happening throughout the year and in August in particular. What celebrations have you seen or been involved in?
Tomorrow, Tash is joining scouting people from around Victoria for the Fantastic Race and the Scout Street party in the city - will you be there? Cubs are meeting at the museum and then visiting various city landmarks to collect points towards a centenary badge - it will be a BIG day but loads of fun and a great way to show the children different parts of their capital city.
Even if you are not in scouting, why not say hello and happy birthday to any scouting people you spot this month?
From everyone involved in Save Time Online, we wish scouts everywhere a great year and another fantastic 100 years of funn and growing!
