A few facts and details about the 24th October:

• likely to be the biggest environmental action on the planet to date
• events are being held across the world (see our side menu to find your closest events) and images will be posted online to a common gallery
• the aim is show everyone and especially those involved in the Copenhagen discussions, the importance of 359.  “350 is the number that leading scientists say is the safe upper limit for parts per million carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. 350 is the number humanity needs to get below as soon as possible to avoid runaway climate change. (Watch this animation - scroll down the page). “
• reducing global carbon emissions is really our only hope to get below 350 and slow climate change. We can all do a bit towards that and our leaders in Copenhagen need to do more

Students play in real time against students from anywhere in the world in 60 second games. The competition runs for 48 hours and includes school and class groups as well as individuals.

There are even prizes available based on the number of questions answered, but the real value is in building enthusiasm for maths and the knowledge that program sales will help UNICEF give more children a chance at education.

WHM was introduced to Australia in 2000 by Helen Leonard and started the Australian Women’s History Forum Commitee with the aims to;

- Raise awareness and provide hostorical informations of women in Australia and their contributions

- Encourage initiatives across educational and community sectors

- Support institutions and organisations in arranging local activities during WHM.

Until as recently as the 1970’s women have virtually been left out of history. WHM works to change this and encourages upcoming women to strive to be a part of history.
With the month starting on the 1st of March, we encourage other women out there to join in with the movement.

You know that you just have 24 more days to organise your family Christmas. The heat is rising and it’s not just because its the first day of Summer.

You still have work, you still have to take care of the kids, you still have to keep the house in running order, you still have to have time to yourself so you don’t go insane. How do you find time to prepare for Christmas?

You hate shopping at Christmas time, people are pushy, rude, mean, eager to get in before EVERYone else, shoving, yelling, trying to find that car park that isn’t two kilometers walk away. How do you deal with shopping at Christmas?

All that you need to do to take away these stresses is to take a little time to prepare and organise. Some tips and pointers to help you over the next 24 days are:

- Write down and plan what you need before you start to shop. Nothing is worse than getting home from Christmas shopping and realising you forgot something.

- Shop online where ever you can. This keeps you away from those pesky crowds and everything is delivered.

- Get as many things as possible from the one shop as this saves time in travelling and it will also save in delivery fees if you shop online.

- Plan and order as much as you can before the day. Get your turkey, pre-order flowers, put in a request for a personalised Santa Letter.

- Get the kids to help you out by giving them large sheets of paper to colour in to make wrapping paper or to make cards out of. Or you could get the gift wrapping done in store as this saves time and makes it harder for someone to see what their present will be.

The first Fashion on the Field competition was held in 1962 to encourage females back to the racecourse. So now women flock in their frocks to Flemington and to one of Melbourne more famous fashion parades.

This year the Melbourne Cup is held on Tuesday the 4th of November!

So get your hat on and go celebrate this famous Melbourne tradition!!
